The Baby Boomers, we noted, were for the most part ill prepared for what was to come. For the most part we were a generation of "Spenders vs Savers" and because of this, the likelihood was they would be forced to continue working or would dramatically have to change their lifestyle.

An alternative that is getting more exposure and becoming more acceptable is moving to a less expensive environment. The problems can be just as large however, as taxes and cost of living continue to rise all across the USA, so now the alternative is expanding, across the US borders. Costa Rica, Belize, Panama, Mexico, Central and South America are getting a lot of attention. However, there are issues here too ... language, culture, customs, climate, even the distance. But when we started looking at the Big Picture ... it made sense to investigate further.

One of our partners, Bill Elliott, has been coming to the Guadalajara area for over 6 years and has become enamored by the people, climate, and over all quality of life. When he joined Alan Bruns, a major Disney construction contracting firm President, and Mike Calhoun, an extremely successful Central Florida developer, the three flew to Mexico and joined Luis Camarena Martinez, a Central Mexico attorney with generations of experience to create Lakeside Developments.

The newest member of the Lakeside Development Team is Melvin Pagan. He has been in the import-export business for over 15 years and has been doing business in the Guadalajara/Ajijic area during that entire period. He will be the driving force behind the newest development, "Ajijic Design".

This Mexican corporation has the ability to work in Mexico and develop, design and build a high quality homes for the discriminating buyer who wants to feel confident in not only their purchase but the integrity of their home. We work with local Architect, Guadalupe Orozco, of Hernandez & Orozco Arquitectos, whose designs are absolutely gorgeous, then using time tested methods and the best local builders, we completed structures that will be here hundreds of years from now. Only the best materials and techniques are used to finish your home. There is no reason for us to cut corners as most of our clients are our best friends, and we take no chances on titling property incorrectly either, which is the reason for Luis in our corporation.

The goal of Lakeside Developments is to discuss with our prospective clients, how does Mexico fit into your future plans and does it also fit your financial needs. This should not just be an emotional decisions made with lack of exposure to all the questions and answers.
